Of Whales and Ships

Of Whales and Ships is an interactive installation commisioned by the Maritime Museum of Rotterdam. Within a space meant to glorify the history of shipping, the purpose of the work was to offer a more-than-human perspective on the growing acoustic presence of human infrastructures in maritime space.

Viewers are invited to hold their breath to activate a sonic map of the waters in the Rotterdam Port. An enlarged whale tympanic bulla emits sounds from offshore infrastructures.
